"As a storyteller, I push the boundaries of film and theater by creating impactful and authentic narratives while fostering artistic collaboration."

I’m a film director and stage director based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I run Lumos Films LLC, the production company I founded in 2006, and I’m the Artistic Director of The Royal Underground Theatre Company in Berkeley. I also work as an actor and music director, which keeps me grounded in the rehearsal room and honest about what actually works in performance. Between these roles, I’ve directed feature films, short films, commercials, industrial work, and a steady stream of theatre.

Film is my primary medium, but theatre keeps my instincts sharp and my ego in check. Whether I’m behind a camera, onstage, or in the room shaping a score, I’m interested in work that feels intentional, specific, and worth the audience’s time.

“There are moments in 'Some Night' that feel like a Cameron Crowe film. Lots of heart and soul."

“Director Enrico Banson sets the mood with pre-show music from the 1960s and uses projections very cleverly to show the ever-changing locations. He also filmed the characters at some of these locations in the exact costumes they wear on stage resulting in a very effective mirroring of stage and screen. Add in a multi-talented cast, Banson’s creative flare and you have a delightful evening of theater."

Seminar challenges and delights, as we follow the highs and lows of students and teacher. Director Enrico Banson displays firm control of an intricate plot, balancing complicated relationships between characters."

“The subtle direction by Enrico Banson leads us in new directions. We are led to new ideas and new resolutions by the highs and lows in their subtle and intellectual debate. The play flows by like a hypnotic conversation between two wonderful, opposed characters."

“Enrico Banson, who seamlessly directs the 105-minute "The People Vs. Mona" and inserted tons of unexpected schtick, doubles as an extraordinary musical director who's onstage with his electronic keyboard throughout. It's exciting that the latest incarnation of "Mona" is here. It would be hard to find an Actors' Equity show that's better!"

“Director Enrico Banson has tapped a plethora of positive energy in his tightly directed production. Banson, also a filmmaker, added cinematic influences such as a tiny treasure chest as a light source and a very funny bit with a television.”

“From our first conversation with Enrico Banson to the final 10-second video edit, Banson and the Lumos team provided excellent guidance and follow-through, and were very responsive to our input and request. They gave constructive advice on the script, shot video that conveyed our storyline and mission, and brought their dynamic creativity to the editing process. The final video exceeded our expectations."

“We give Enrico Banson and Lumos Films our highest recommendation. They are hard working, creative, and great collaborators. They combined efficient professionalism with great senses of humor. Lumos filmed and edited a promotional video for our show "Hamlet’s Big Adventure! (a Prequel)" and we are delighted with the results.”
